If more than one person wishes to speak on the same topic, it is suggested that subsequent speakers provide only new information.

Addressing the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Board of Education
There are four opportunities during a Board Meeting when any citizen may address the Board of Education on subjects relating to education.
Requests to address the Board as a spokesperson for a delegation must be submitted to the superintendent before noon on the Tuesday prior to the meeting to be included on the agenda.
Persons addressing the Board will be allowed 3 minutes, except for spokespersons of delegations and students who will be allowed 5 minutes.
Meetings are digitally recorded. Please step up to the lectern, identify yourself and give your address. If you represent an organization, name it.
Defamatory, abusive, or remarks that attack the character of anyone are out of order. The presiding officer may end the speaker’s time if remarks persist.
Persons in the audience should not interrupt the comment period of any other speaker.
While members of the public may speak with the Board on items of their choice, the Board will not hear comments directed against any student or employee of the school system, including comments made through inference or implication, while in public session. The Board encourages citizens to resolve such issues through informal discussions with the individual or school.
Please refrain from sharing information which could cause embarrassment later.
If more than one person wishes to speak on the same topic, it is suggested that subsequent speakers provide only new information.

The AASB 2025-2026 Resolutions Process and Timeline is provided to review, propose and amend resolutions. Without a resolution, AASB cannot take a position if approached by the legislature or other parties.
To comment on or suggest changes to the resolutions, AASB requests that your board schedule time to discuss the resolutions at a regular meeting and vote by official board action. According to AASB bylaws, the deadline for the AASB office to receive your comments and proposals is Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
All resolutions received will be compiled, and a complete set of resolutions that includes proposals from districts will be sent back to member districts by October 25, 2025.

Vice President Tauriainen attended Nikiski North Star opening day welcoming students, an open house at Nikiski Middle High School, and met with Nikiski Middle High School principal.
Ms. Morgan listened to the state education task force meeting, and visited Cooper Landing school.
Ms. Vadla visited Redoubt, Montessori and Soldotna Elementary schools, and visited Soldotna High School, River City Academy and Skyview Middle schools. She worked with the AASB June Nelson Memorial Scholarship committee.
Ms. Douthit attended a back to school night at Mountain View. She listened to the state education task force meeting, and she watched the Kenai Marching Band.
Ms. Truesdell attended the interviews of the Tulen Charter School Principal and attended their open house.
Mr. Daugharty attended all day union negotiations, the Homer Middle back to school event, and a planning session for KPEA negations. He attended the first day of school at Paul Banks, Homer High School, Homer Middle School and a parks and recreation meeting. He attended another KPEA negotiations meeting, a Homer High Site Council meeting, and a Homer Middle School and Voznesenka soccer match.
President Kelly attended the school board candidate orientation.

Mr. Daugharty appreciated the Board passing the budget revision this evening. He spoke to the detriment that the staff at district office face with staffing reductions. He appreciated the beginning of discussions to start a task force to research school consolidation. He celebrated the beginning of the year, and recognized the District's high assessment scores. He appreciated Ms. Morgan and Mr. Kelly for their service on the Board.
Ms. Truesdell appreciated the school tours this morning. She noted the importance of school nurses. She appreciated the school reports and the students. She spoke to the book the Board is reading.
