C. AASB Resolutions

The committee reviewed and discussed the 2017 proposed Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) resolutions. No recommendations will be forwarded to the board at this time. The committee will develop a timeline at their next meeting on Sept. 11, 2017. The timeline will be discussed at a work session following that meeting. AASB's due date requires that the board develop their recommendations and approved them at the Sept. meeting. Because it allows more time for discussion and review, a better option might be for the board to study the proposals and give direction to the board members that attend the AASB Annual Conference, where the resolutions are approved. However, resolutions can also be proposed as a laydown item at the Sept. 11 meeting.
D. State and Federal Legislative Priorities

The committee reviewed the 2016 priorities and began a draft for the 2017 list. Mr. Dusek will produce a draft document to be discussed at the Sept. 11 committee meeting and during a work session following that meeting. The 2018 State and Federal Legislative Priorities will be presented for action at Oct. 16 meeting.
The next committee meeting will be held on Sept. 11, 2017 at Homer High School. Agenda items will be the 2017 AASB Resolutions, 2018 State and Federal Legislative Priorities and the Sept. 19 Key Communicator Meeting.
Non-agenda item: Ms. Lynn Hohl suggested the district have a recorded loop of students reciting district facts while phone callers are on hold on district phones.
