1. Board Policy Committee

A. Call to Order

Ms. Morgan called the meeting to order at 9:30 p.m.

B. Roll Call

Members Present: Virginia Morgan, Sarah Douthit, Jason Tauriainen, Patti Truesdell, Kari Dendurent, Will Chervenak

C. Approval of Agenda

The August 4, 2025 policy review committee meeting agenda was approved as presented.

D. Approval of Notes 07-07-2025

The July 7, 2025 policy review meeting notes were approved as presented.

2. Policy Review-Ongoing

A. Policy Review of Series 3000 Business & Instruction Support Operations

The committee reviewed the 3000 series Business & Instruction Support Operations and moved the series to the next Board policy work session to be reviewed by the full Board.

B. BP 4158 Employee Security

Mr. Tauriainen prefers the second version. He requested clarification regarding what approved methods are. Ms. Dendurent requested clarification from Mr. Tauriainen where the approved methods term he is referring to is not actually featured in this version. Mr. Tauriainen withdrew his previous statement. Ms. Dendurent noted that there was research done regarding other policies in place with other schools in regards to the added language to the second version. Ms. Truesdell posed a question regarding MANDT training. Ms. Dendurent spoke to this in the district and that there is a designated number of personnel trained per site.
Mr. Tauriainen requested clarification regarding why must vs. may was being utilized in the policy. Ms. Dendurent spoke to that must refers to the practices of physical restraint that are to be adhered to according to state law. Ms. Morgan echoed Ms. Dendurent. Mr. Chervenak requested clarification on what type of training that employees will receive to follow these guidelines. Ms. Dendurent noted the district is navigating this at this time, especially as the policy language is being revised and to maintain compliance of federal and state law. Mr. Holland spoke to the state regulations currently in place. This policy was tabled to the next policy committee meeting for further revisions and to align further with state regulations.

3. Policy New Business

A. Proposed Update to 4000 Series Policy Structure

Ms. Dendurent spoke to the reasoning behind the 4000 Series policy restructure. Committee had no objections with the suggested restructuring of the 4000 series as proposed.

B. Rationale for Reclassifying Board Bylaw Exhibits

Ms. Morgan spoke to the reclassification proposal of Board Bylaw Exhibits and the reasoning behind this suggested revision. Committee had no objections with the suggested proposal of reclassification of the Board Bylaw Exhibits as proposed.

C. BB 9312 Board Bylaws

This policy was moved to the next policy review work session for review from the full Board.

D. BB 9313 Administrative Regulations and Exhibits

This policy was moved to the next policy review work session for review from the full Board.

E. Laydown Exhibit 6187e Intent to Amend Charter School Application

Ms. Dendurent spoke to the reasoning behind the new exhibit with two charter schools starting to work on amendments to their charters.
