Background Information:

Attached is the administration's recommended revision to AR 5144.1 Suspension and Expulsion.  This AR is revised to update board policy as it pertains to school safety and security (especially regarding behavior threat assessment) and as recommended by our attorney at Jermain, Dunnagan and Owens (JDO).  In addition, we have updated the timelines for hearing responses and appeals.

Exhibits 5144.1(a) Long-term Suspension Process and 5144.1(b) Order of Hearings are presented in order to give the board a view of the entire effects from the revision to AR 5144.1.
