Background Information:
Work Session discussion, prior to School Board decision regarding the regulated school drinking water systems. This proposal would change the site inspection requirement from weekly to every two weeks by the KPB Maintenance water operators. The drinking water systems are currently monitored by SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), real-time cameras, and alarm systems. These automated systems operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are the sentry and data gathering backbone for all of KPB's water treatment facilities. These systems have been in operation for many years without incident or compliance issues. The State of Alaska's Water/Wastewater Works Advisory Board has requested the School Board's concurrence prior to approving the new Alternate Method of System Supervision (AMOSS) plan.
