Background Information:

Attached is the six-year plan for the years 2018-2023.

The listed priority Scheduling, Category and Cost Estimates remain mostly in their current status as a result of the bond moratorium action by the State of Alaska which is in effect until January 2020 and the current fiscal climate.  The State could potentially extend the bond moratorium and/or change the reimbursement amounts and possibly re-prioritize allowable projects.  The abatement portion of #2 Kenai Middle School Asbestos Removal/Office Remodel is being done under the 2013 roofing bond and will be complete summer of 2017.  #5 Nanwalek Propane Tank upgrade was partially completed fall of 2016 and there are no further funds allocated.  The State allocated $8,896,640 for the Kachemak-Selo new school construction in August 2016.  Project management has been transferred to the Borough. 

The additions to the list are Nanwalek School renovation / replacement / addition and office security remodels at several schools.  The estimates attached to those projects are just that, we would need extensive design work to finalize the numbers.  There remain numerous additional projects under consideration that could or should be on a fully projected 6-year plan.  Some examples include:

• School capacity surveys need to be updated
• Parking lot upgrades district wide
• Building energy efficiencies/upgrades district wide
• Americans with Disability Act of 1990 (ADA) compliance with access regulations
• Facility upgrades to address security/safety responsibilities
• Facility development to enhance appropriate traffic access for student and public safety.
