The district last purchased new copiers in FY16. We entered into an agreement with Konica Minolta for a five-year agreement, with a right to renew for two additional years. We renewed our contract for one year and have done an analysis of the fleet. We found that 35 of our copiers are at the end of their life expectancy. The remaining machines have 1 – 2 years of life left.
Cooperative Contracting is authorized in the State of Alaska under Alaska Statute 36.30.700. The State of Alaska Division of General Services issues multi-state contracts that leverage the combined purchasing volume of many states. This allows governmental units to avoid the time and expense of contracting for these same goods and services internally and receive great pricing.
Our purchasing department has utilized the WSCA-NASPO State of Alaska’s Copier Bid to evaluate the replacement of our copiers.
The replacement cost of the 35 copiers $317,467.50.
Over the next two years we will be evaluating the remaining copiers, originally purchased in FY16, and put into place a replacement plan.
Funding for the copiers will come from the General Fund and Equipment fund.
Administration recommends the KPBSD purchase 35 new copiers from Konica Minolta at a cost of $317,467.50 through the WSCA-NASPO State of Alaska Copier bid.
