AR 6161.4 Acceptable Use Policy-Internet Safety Policy was introduced at the 6-6-2022 Committee meeting and was moved to this Committee meeting for further review with Mr. Soderquist's recommended edits. It will be on the agenda in the Work Session today.
Mr. Soderquist's suggested edits since the 6-6-2022 meeting are summarized below, and can be identified in the document below by comments.
- Simplified definition of personal devices to include laptops and other handheld devices (effectively removes specific mention of MP3 players and other outdated equipment categories)
- Reworks spamming section to recognize legitimate mailings (such as school newsletters), while continuing to prohibit unsolicited mass mailings
- Adds new Account Security section discussing responsible use of network accounts. This section also incorporates the previously-existing “Security” section, which has been proposed for removal
- Reworks the “user should” / “user should not” sections to encourage digital citizenship, while removing the ambiguous games language
