KPBSD Stipend Funding Reduction Plan (50%)
Effective for the 2025–2026 School Year
In response to budgetary constraints, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD) will implement the following stipend funding reduction plan. This plan will be assessed as local, state and federal funding is increased or decreased.
- Training Requirements Prior to Stipend Submission
Principals must ensure that all coaches and advisors have completed required district training in coordination with Human Resources prior to submitting any stipend request through Applitrack. - Verification Process
Principals will submit verification of completed training and program compliance to their district-level designee before submitting a stipend request. - Student Participant Documentation Requirements
All student participants must be:- Entered into Big Teams
- In compliance with all required fees, forms, and documentation
- Cleared before participating in practice or being counted toward stipend eligibility
For activities not managed through Big Teams (e.g., middle school sports), principals must verify and submit equivalent documentation (e.g., spreadsheets) to their director.
- District Funding Contribution (50%)
The district will fund 50% of the 2025–2026 stipend amount using general funds.
Example:- 2024–2025 High School Volleyball Head Coach stipend: $4,848.46
- District portion (50%): $2,424.23
- School portion: $2,424.23
- School Funding Contribution (50%)
Schools are responsible for the remaining 50% of the stipend. Funding may come from:- 710 accounts
- Fundraising efforts
- Booster club contributions (must be deposited into the 710 account via check)
- Financial Verification Requirement
Prior to submitting stipend requests, principals must confirm with the Finance Department that their school has adequate funding in the 710 account to cover their portion of the stipend.
