      Update: Southern Peninsula K-6 After School Programing

      Since late Fall of this year (2016-2017) Homer area principals have been working together on the issue of identifying after school programing opportunities for the start of the next school year (2017-2018).   Due to all the Homer elementary schools’ end times being earlier, we anticipate K-6 students in particular will need new after school opportunities.

      All of the Homer area principals have been meeting together and working with Homer community service providers to brainstorm and identify potential after school opportunities for students.  Eric Pederson, Principal of Paul Banks Elementary is currently working on potentially bringing Boys & Girls Club back to the Homer area.  A potential location for the program has been identified and discussions are progressing.  A survey will be sent out soon to the parents of all Homer elementary school students to gauge the interest level in this service and program.  As additional information becomes available we will keep the Board informed.
