Background Information:
Nursing vacancies concerns and administrative recommendation:
The District continues to experience nursing vacancies due to public health offices and local medical practices offering significantly more per hour than our current salary schedule for licensed nurses. Due to the current Covid-19 global pandemic, for the health and safety of our students, it is important to ensure all KPBSD nursing positions are filled.
As Superintendent I authorized the Director of Human Resources, to approach the KPESA President and enter into a Memorandum of Agreement immediately increasing pay for KPBSD nurses by $5.00 per hour. The District has built this additional cost into our CARES ACT grant funding plan. Administration recommends that the Board approve authorizing the Superintendent to sign the enclosed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and the Kenai Peninsula Educational Support Association.
