Kenai Peninsula Borough Funding
The Kenai Peninsula Borough (KPB) provided funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) act, which included the Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) to KPBSD in the amount of $2,111,091. This funding was used to address expenditures that were substantially different than that of the original expected use of the local contribution. KPB was eligible to provide up to $500 per student per the U.S. Treasury CFR FAQ’s dated October 9, 2020.
Since KPBSD utilized a portion of the local contribution for COVID-19 related expenditures that were substantially different from the original intent, KPB was allowed to provide $2,111,091 in CRF funding to KPBSD. This reduced the amount provided from KPB General fund but did not reduce the overall KPBSD funding.
