E 1312.2 (b) Library Bill of Rights was amended on January 29, 2019, by the American Library Association to include the following:
7. All people, regardless of origin, age, background, or views, possess a right to privacy and confidentiality in their library use. Libraries should advocate for, educate about, and protect people's privacy, safeguarding all library use data, including personally identifiable information.
The Administration is updating the policy to reflect that change. It was presented in Board Policy Committee on 3-14-2022 and will be on the agenda tonight in the General Information Packet.
