          Background Information:

          Each year at their annual conference, AASB schedules student musical performances.  Last winter, the board requested that administration research the possibility of having a KPBSD student group participate.  In order to keep costs to a minimum, we requested a performance time between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.  This would allow for a day trip; i.e. students would travel early on the performance day and return that afternoon; the district would need to pay the travel costs.  However, the only time slots offered by AASB are a 15-20 minute session beginning at 8:30 a.m. on either the Friday or Saturday of the conference.  If we want to send a group to perform, the costs incurred would be not only travel but, overnight lodging and, possibly, food (for the students, chaperones and bus driver).
