BP 5040 Student Nutrition and Physical Activity calls for an annual review of the wellness policy. Each year a survey is conducted of school administrators, school nurses, general education teachers, health teachers, physical education teachers, parents, and students. The goal of the surveys is to provide the School Board and the District Wellness Committee information to improve the quality of curriculum and instruction to support this policy’s implementation.

The KPBSD District Instructional Team met, discussed and determined to streamline and reduce the number of surveys given to students. Thus, the KPBSD Health and Wellness questions were added to the Hanover School Climate and Mindset survey that was distributed in March 2022. It was hopeful this decision assisted in avoiding on-line survey fatigue and to ensure better data.

In addition, with the number of surveys given to teachers, administrators, and parents this year, it was determined to wait until next year to give staff and parents the survey and to assess the results of that survey and the Hanover survey. Date for parent and staff survey is tentatively set for October to include parent teacher conference time in an effort to capture as many parents we can for this survey.

In an effort to ensure the KPBSD has stakeholder data for the 2021-22 school year, DIT chose to use the ESER III survey provided to stakeholders to determine how funding should be spent. Options included healthy lifestyle options, social emotional learning options, and mental health options. See results below.
