ABoard Policy Work Session 2017-10-16

Background Information:

E 9130c Information Committee Charge: This is a revision.

E 9130d Finance Committee Charge: This is a new addition.

At the Sept. 11, 2017 the Board approved new charges for the Information Committee and the Finance Committee. Board committee charges are policy exhibits.

E 9000a Role of Board and Members: This exhibit was revised Jan. 11, 2016 to remove the third question category in section I (see attached). The revision did not include an update to the total number of categories. The exhibit is being further revised to update the number of question categories to two (2).

BP 0100 Philosophy:  The Board approved the district's 2017-2022 Strategic Plan at their June 5, 2017 meeting.  As BP 0100 Philosophy is currently written, each new strategic plan requires a board policy revision. In researching philosophy policies around the state and country, current practices are to adopt a public education philosophy.  On Sept. 11, 2017, the Policy Committee drafted the attached revision, based on administration recommendation.  The district strategic plan will become an exhibit to the policy which will be updated each time a new strategic plan is adopted.

BB 9130 Board Committees:  At their Sept. 11 meeting, the committee agreed to forward the attached revision. Two board committees (Policy Review and Finance) and one school district committee (Career & Technical Advisory) currently have four board members serving.  This revision is needed to bring board practice in line with board policy and to ensure consistency.
