The October Twenty-Day Count period for FY18 ended on Friday, October 27, 2017. According to AS 14.17.600. Student Count Periods, KPBSD has to submit that count information to the State within two weeks. So our IT folks and our Finance folks are currently working to try and finalize the numbers for all 44 schools, and make sure we don’t have any errors. We try and finalize the count as quick as possible, but we want to make sure it is accurate and reliable information. That is why it will not be completed in time to submit in the Board Packet. We will be able to provide our actual revised numbers at the Board Worksession on Monday. As of today, in general, it looks like our overall ADM will be under our projected enrollment by approximately 67 students, which will result in a revenue decrease. It also appears that our Intensive Needs student enrollment will again be up significantly from our projection, which will result in a revenue increase. We will have better numbers on Monday, but at this time between the mix of the two, it appears that our Basic Need amount form the State will increase slightly.
AS 14.17.500. Student Count Estimate, requires that by November 5 of each fiscal year, we provide DEED an estimate of our ADM for the succeeding fiscal year (FY19 in this case). We like to use the revised current year count (FY18) as a basis for our FY19 enrollment estimation, so the projected FY19 enrollment will also not be completed in time to submit in the Board Packet. We will be able to provide our actual FY19 estimated enrollment numbers at the Board Worksession on Monday.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, KPBSD held a district-wide Skype Budget Session with all the building site councils across the district. Site councils were tasked with holding budget discussions and forwarding budget questions that were generated. Administration is in the process of providing answers for the submitted questions. Please find attached a list of questions and answers that have been generated to date. Additional questions with answers will be shared when the answers are completed.
