      Background Information:

The Social Studies Curriculum Committee met the following days to revise the KPBSD Social Studies Curriculum:  Oct. 9, 10, 11, Nov. 14-15, Dec. 5-6, and Feb. 5-6.  The Social Studies Committee conducted a needs assessment based on student data, personalized learning instructional needs, and discussed the importance of supporting literacy through Social Studies content. The committee determined a thematic, inquiry based approach that supports recommendations from National Curriculum Social Studies Standards would best meet the need of our students and support the KPBSD strategic plan, mission, and vision. The Committee seeks Board approval of the revision at the March 2, 2020 School Board Meeting.
