Background Information: The District Administration met with the Borough staff and Administration to develop a list of school capital projects. The Board of Education met with the Borough Assembly in a joint work session on February 4 and on March 2 the School Board adopted Resolution 19-20-3 requesting the Borough Administration and Assembly request voter approval of the bonds on October 6th, 2020. Subsequent of these actions the state of Alaska' s economy was impacted by COVED-19 and the ensuing government mandates. On April 21 the Board of Education met with the Borough Assembly in another joint work session, with the proposed outcome of postponing the bond request due to the looming economic impact and potential voter sentiment. At this meeting the District Administration verbalized the continued need of the projects, the desire to renew the request for the bond in 2021 and as a condition of accepting this postponement, the District requested that the Borough request and receive an extension of the recipients participating share for the Kachemak-Selo New K-12 School Construction project that currently expires on June 29, 2021.
