Background Information:

During this work session Administration will present updates and new information related to the start up of the school year and the KPBSD Smart Start 2020 Plan document. Information will be provided on the following:

  • Feedback from Alaska Department of Health & Social Services on our submitted KPBSD Smart Start Plan
  • New DEED Smart Start Guidelines based on the updated CDC and State of Oregon School Start-up guidelines
  • Community transmission risk levels, daily communication, and KPBSD COVID-19 Community Risk Level Medical Advisory Group
  • Changes to face coverings requirements
  • School Nurses vacancies, building coverage plan, and MOA with KPESA for enhanced retention and recruitment of school nurses
  • Positive COVID-19 case contacts in school staff and/or students decision matrix
  • Personnel and human resources processes (staff assignments, staff re-allocation process, substitutes, etc.)
  • Parental choice enrollment selection form and process
  • Other
