Background Information:
Without a resolution, the Association of Alaska School Boards (AASB) cannot take a position if approached by the legislature, or other parties. As such, AASB solicits resolutions, resolution amendments and comments from local school boards for consideration. This year consideration of resolutions submitted to AASB membership by school districts will be reviewed at the 2023 Annual Conference on Nov. 9-12th in Anchorage. These resolutions guide AASB for the coming year beginning November 13, 2023. They also guide advocacy and positions during the upcoming legislative session.
This evening the KPBSD Board of Education will take action on the proposed resolution for Addressing and Preventing Human and Sex Trafficking to submit to AASB membership for their consideration at this upcoming Annual Conference.
A draft of this proposed resolution was presented at the 09-11-2023 work session, and in work session earlier today with minor edits for full Board discussion and input.
Information Regarding the AASB Resolution Process and timeline can be found on the AASB Resolutions page.
