The School Board recognizes its responsibility to consistently take precautions to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. A comprehensive approach to disease prevention requires the cooperation of the home and the community.

All employees shall be instructed in the use of Universal Precautions and expected to use these when assisting anyone who is injured or ill. Students will be informed of Universal Precautions as appropriate to their grade and anticipated involvement in student injury assistance.

Science laboratory instruction shall be designed to protect students from contact with body fluids and with non-sterile needles, sharps and other potentially contaminated objects.
