Background Information:

After the resignation of Superintendent Dusek last January 2019, the Board of Education approved activating the Superintendent Search Oversight Committee at the January 28, 2019 Special Meeting. The charge of the Committee was listed as:

“The charge of the committee shall be to develop and recommend: a process timeline, the criteria for qualified applicants, an online public survey, a job advertisement plan and budget, and other tasks leading up to the selection of the position finalists. Determining the finalists, conducting the interviews, and selecting the new superintendent, will be functions of the whole board. This committee will terminate when the superintendent selection has been finalized.”

At the April 4, 2019, Special Meeting Superintendent candidate interviews were held. After interviews were conducted, the board went into executive session. When the board came out of executive session, a motion was made to authorize President Vadla to offer the position of interim superintendent and negotiate a contract with assistant superintendent, Mr. John O'Brien.

At the April 18, 2019, Special Meeting the Board approved John O’Brien as interim superintendent of schools for the 2019-2020 school year (July 1, 2019 to June 20, 2020).

This purpose of this work session is to begin the planning process for the hiring of a superintendent of schools for the 2020-2021 school year. The Board of Education will discuss:

-reactivating the Superintendent Search Oversight Committee

-update committee charge

-update committee membership

-committee meeting schedule & timeline

-review the superintendent job description
