Background Information:
The Calendar Committee meet on November 6th, the agenda is attached. The 2021-22 calendar was previously approved by the Board on December 1, 2018; the Committee made no changes to this calendar.
The Committee wanted to keep the 2022-23 calendar consistent, the following changes were made; the end of quarter 2 was moved to January 3 to allow staff to have the In-Service day after the holidays, Spring Break and the end of the quarter were moved ahead one week. An additional student day was needed to meet DEED's requirement of 170 student days. The day was added in May.
The Committee made the following changes to the 2022-23 calendar to keep it consistent; December break was moved to the last two weeks of the month. The end of quarter 2 was moved to January 2nd. Changing the December break made the calendar 1 student day short, the additional day was added to May.
Please note KPBSD aligns their spring break with UAA. UAA has yet to set the dates for their 2022-23 and 2023-24 calendars, so these dates might change. The Committee alternated Veterans Day and Martin Luther King Jr. holidays.
