Background Information:
This is a repeal of AR 2121 pursuant to the recommendations of legal counsel and the professional placement agency hired to assist with the search for a Superintendent. The current Administrative Regulation (AR) is cumbersome, difficult for a prospective applicant to interpret, and makes it difficult for the Board to competitively negotiate with a qualified applicant. Additionally, while Board Policies (BP’s) are legislative in nature, stating the directives which the District should follow, AR’s are interpretations by the Superintendent and a guide to staff on how the Board Policy will be carried out. Therefore, salary negotiations, if they are to be legislated, should not be in an AR.
At the November 2, 2020 Policy Review Committee meeting, the board recommended a first reading of policy for AR 2121. Administration recommends that AR 2121 be repealed.
