      Background Information:

      Board of Education Special Committee

This group would be appointed by the President of the Board, and would consist of 3 Board members, the Superintendent or his designee, and other technical resource personnel as the committee deems appropriate.  The committee would be established to exist for 120 days, which could be extended upon approval of the Board.  The purpose of this committee would be to gather the available information regarding the expenditures the District incurs with our current health care program, utilize appropriate professional help to interpret said information, and suggest potential options the District may have to reduce those expenditures.  This reduction may be in the form of unilateral District actions, or of recommended suggested negotiated items which could be presented during the next open contract negotiations session.
