Background Information:
During the first semester of the 2016-2017 school year, District Administration and Southern Peninsula building principals conducted several community meetings to provide information and gather input from parents and community to prepare for changes needed to accommodate the switch from single-tier to double-tier bussing. New school start and end times for Southern Peninsula schools where bus transportation is provided have been finalized.
Attached for your information is a communication (letter) that will be sent out the week of December 12th to the Southern Peninsula education community (students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders) which lists the new school start and end times. Additionally, other important transportation changes and clarifications taking effect with the change to two-tier bussing in the southern peninsula are addressed, most notably the “out-of-area attendance” process.
Southern Peninsula principals continue to meet together and with community service providers to discuss after school childcare, recreation, and structured activity options that can be in place at the start of the 2017-2018 school year to accommodate families.
