Background Information: On May 5, 2025 the school board implemented permanent closure of Nikolaevsk School.  On June 25, 2025 the State of Alaska Department of Education and Early Development approved the closure of the Nikolaevsk School.  Declaring the facility surplus will allow for disposition and transfer of the facility to the Kenai Peninsula Borough. The KPBSD administration recommends the board approve the Nikolaevsk School facility being declared surplus and transferred to the Kenai Peninsula Borough, to allow the district a reduction in facility operational costs.
