          Background Information:

During the 2019-2020 School year John O'Brien will serve as the interim superintendent.  The assistant superintendent of instruction position will not be filled for the 2019-2020 school year and Mr. O'Brien will continue to perform a significant portion of his current assistant superintendent duties.

During this interim period a temporary director position has been created to assist with the added workload on the leadership team. This temporary position will handle all of the time consuming complaints, investigations, student discipline appeals, school level calls for assistance, and will take on “special projects” such as school consolidation planning and examining a four-day school week, etc. (This temporary position will be called “Director of Schools & Compliance”) Lastly, some members of the district leadership team have been re-assigned to different positions and some job titles have changed.

The purpose and objective of this reorganization is:

          1. To ensure that we are organized and structured in a manner that supports positive momentum on accomplishing the goals set forth in our five-year strategic plan.
          1. Allows key instructional staff to spend their time working on “value added” work rather than reactionary, “crisis of the day” complaint resolution, investigations, and “putting out fires.”
          1. Adds no additional general fund district level administrative costs above what had already been budgeted for FY20. (Budget neutral)

          Reorganized KPBSD District Leadership Team:

          • Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Support: Dave Jones
          • Director of Schools & Compliance: Tim Vlasak
          • Director of Human Resources: Nate Crabtree
          • Director of Innovation & Strategic Planning: John Pothast
          • Director of Student Support Services: Clayton Holland
          • Director of Professional Learning & Federal Programs: Christine Ermold
          • Director of Communications, Community & Government Relations: Pegge Erkeneff
          • Director of Information Services: Eric Soderquist
          • Director of Planning & Operations: Kevin Lyon
          • Director of Finance: Elizabeth Hayes
