Correction was made as the grade of one of the retained students is in 1st grade and not kindergarten. 

Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Policy BP 5123 addresses the criteria and process for retention/acceleration of any student.  During the 2025-2026 school year, 25 students were considered for possible retention and five students were considered for possible acceleration for the 2026-2027 school year under the above referenced policy. From 14 different schools, there will be 10 students retained and five students accelerated.
