Background Information:

During the 2025–2026 school year, the KPBSD Social Studies Curriculum Revision Committee conducted a in-depth evaluation of instructional materials for middle and high school core courses. To ensure an objective, evidence-based selection process, the committee utilized a High-Quality Instructional Material (HQIM) review rubric to evaluate several competing programs. This rubric measured strict alignment with state standards, historical accuracy, pedagogical depth, and accessibility for all learners.

Based on this intensive review, the committee has selected  recommendations for middle school World History, middle school U.S. History, high school World History, and high school U.S. History. High-quality instructional materials are essential to ensuring that every student has equitable access to rigorous content and effective, engaging instruction that supports academic success.
