Background Information:
Attached is the proposed Six-Year Capital Improvement Plan for consideration. The prioritized needs list is also attached. The six-year plan projects were taken from the Prioritized CIP list of projects. This prioritized needs list is a result of Kenai Peninsula Borough Maintenance, Kenai Peninsula Borough Purchasing & Contracting and Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Planning & Operations jointly evaluating identified needs for school facilities in the school district.
The distinction between the CIP list and the Major Maintenance list falls in the nature of the work. As the title describes, Capital Improvement requires additional capital investment to provide a new system, component, or building area or a reconfiguration of an existing element of the building. Major Maintenance projects generally involve repair or replacement of existing components.
Selection of projects to include on the six-year plan were based on need, and likelihood to score competitively for state funding.
** Redoubt El – Roof Insulation Upgrade: Application with DEED to use remaining FY 2014 bond funding for this project is pending.
